Foundation Stage

Starting school is an important step in a child's life and we want the transition from home to school to be a happy and rewarding one for all concerned. We aim to provide a caring, secure and stimulating environment for children during the Reception Year. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which is based on learning through purposeful carefully planned play and builds on what children already know and can do.

The work planned, following the foundation stage curriculum, is organised into six areas of learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development;
  • Language and Literature;
  • Mathematical Development;
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World;
  • Physical Development;
  • Creative Development.
Children work towards achieving success in these areas by the end of the Foundation Stage, which is at the end of the Reception Year.
